This study aims to understand the development of Rogers' group therapeutic intervention proposals. It argues, first, that the Brazilian humanist’s community didn’t develop a narrative attentive to the discussions that Rogers historically went through to develop his group therapeutic proposals in the United States. Next, it outlines the historical and bibliographical essay outline of the research, with the support on which the moments were elaborated: seminal of the group proposal, based on non-directive psychological counseling (1940-1947); of development of group practices originating from client-centered therapy (1947-1963); of assumption of encounter groups and workshops centered on the person (or person-centered communities) (1963-1987). Based on what was narrated, nine points were established for discussion and inferences about the development of the following proposals: non-directive group therapy, group-centered psychotherapy, group-centered leadership, encounter groups and person-centered workshops. Characteristics, similarities and differences between these works were established. It’s found that Rogers moved from a clinical group therapy proposal to a political proposal for a humanist social experiment. It’s concluded that Rogers' heritage is vast and is still open to historical studies that provide lines of understanding about his contributions.
