Abstract

This study had the objective of identifying and summarizing questionnaires used to assess the five-factor model (FFM) in children. The main characteristics evaluated were: respondent (self or other), the target age-group, instrument format, number of items, likert-scale type, factorial validity, reliability indices, and response bias control. We searched for articles in the following databases: Pubmed, PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of science, and BVS. We found 16 questionnaires that can be used to assess the FFM in children aged between 6 and 12 years. Some of the questionnaires were constructed for being used in adults. The majority of the questionnaires relied on five-point likert-scales. Only two studies controlled for response bias. Psychometric and conceptual aspects of the questionnaires were evaluated.
