Keywords:
Positive Psychology, Chronic Pain, Affection, Interdisciplinary Management.Abstract
Much has been discussed about different aspects of chronic pain, especially when taking into account its complexity and its implications for the daily life of a person affected by this condition. It is commonly treated in the clinic with pharmacological therapies, but it is clear that this is not enough to give the patient a better quality of life. Considering interdisciplinary management in managing chronic pain with the involvement of different health professionals and different types of therapies, this article also seeks to show the effects of integrating methods related to positive psychology and affect during the treatment of patients through a review of the scientific literature. The association of positive psychology and affection within interdisciplinary management is convenient as complementary practices are necessary for the more efficient management of chronic pain. For this reason, a narrative literature review was carried out using three different databases, MEDLINE, PubMed, and Cochrane Library. Therefore, considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 17 articles were selected for the present study to describe how positive psychology and affection can relate and interfere in the lives of patients with chronic pain, considering interdisciplinary management.
